Singer songwriter Tim Freedman of The Whitlams is selling the Newtown home he bought back in 2001 for $320,000.
The wild songman, who made his inner west suburb famous by singing about his local pub “the Sando”, and penning songs like Blow Up The Pokies and There’s No Aphrodisiac Like Loneliness is selling the Sydney house through Raine & Horne Newtown.
The weatherboard cottage was previously owned by children’s novelist Libby Gleeson and will be auctioned on May 30.
The heritage-listed house was built in 1870 and the agent is saying it’s also the location where Australian author Peter Corris wrote one of his Cliff Hardy crime novels.
